Boost Your Immune System
As the temperatures drop, cold and flu season is sneaking its way in. Let's welcome this autumn in by being prepared and giving our immune systems the help they need to stay healthy.
Many look to orange juice to keep the colds at bay, and we’re a big fan of it ourselves but its not the only option. Let’s take a look at some of our other juice choices and why they make for the perfect immune support system. Whether you’re trying to prevent illness or fighting one-off these are all great options.
Up-Beat
Starting off with one of my favourites. Up-beat is a drink full of antioxidants. Featuring Beets, Orange, Kale and Cucumber, this drink really is an allrounder. Kale is full of vitamin A which is necessary for a strong immune system. Beets and oranges are full of vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant making it perfect for fighting off pesky viruses and disease. Cucumber is great for keeping hydrated as it is full of much needed electrolytes, so if you do happen to catch a cold or flu this season, Up-Beat can help you stay hydrated.
Super Green
It has super in the name, and we don’t use it lightly. This juice was developed by a doctor for her cancer patients to help them through their treatments. Featuring Romaine, Spinach, Cucumber, Lemon, Celery, Zucchini and Pink Himalayan Sea Salt this juice packs a powerful punch. Romaine Lettuce is packed full of electrolytes and vitamin C. Spinach is high in iron which is important to blood flow. Lemon is another great source of vitamin C along with Celery. Celery and Zucchini are also vegetables full of electrolytes and antioxidants making them great companions to keeping hydrated. And then the Salt is the cherry on top. We need sodium to help us absorb nutrients and this drink provides just the right amount to do the trick.
Antioxidant Rush
Like the others shared above Antioxidant Rush is a drink full of vitamin C and other beneficial antioxidants. However, the star of this show is Ginger. Ginger is a powerful companion to any diet full of natural antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties giving your immune system a helpful push. It is also full of antioxidants and aids in fighting inflammation. And if you’re feeling unwell, ginger is a wonderful friend in fighting nausea. Ginger also helps reduce pain which makes it the perfect go to when fighting off the aches of a flu.
Daily Diet
Eating a healthy balanced diet is important for all aspects of our daily life. "An apple a day" might not keep the doctor away on its own but it is definitely a step in the right direction. Eating processed and high sugar foods is the perfect fuel for those pesky viruses. So we need to make sure we balance it out with the other foods we eat. Not only will these help keep colds away but they'll also help fight off other more serious diseases, reduce aches and pains and just improve your health overall.
Of course there are many other things we can do to help boost our immune system, taking our vitamins, washing our hands regularly, getting the flu shot each season all go towards helping fight off colds and other viruses. Despite that, we might not always be able to keep them away, but we can help our bodies fight them off faster by keeping a healthy lifestyle.
